began i...</title><content type='html'>Actually, the term &amp;quot;maxi-series&amp;quot; began in comics, believe it or not.  DC Comics presumably borrowed the term &amp;quot;mini-series&amp;quot; from the television mini-series craze that began in the late 70&amp;#39;s, and applied it to short, finite series of comics that ran three to four issues.
